The Uchida-Kraepelin Test is the name of a psychological test developed in Japan by the Japanese psychologist Yuzaburo Uchida during the 1920s and 1930s, based on the work curve discovered by the German psychiatrist Emil Kraepelin. Yuzaburo Uchida founded Nisseiken, Inc. in 1947 to undertake a broad range of psychology-related activities, centered on the sale, administration and Judgment of the Uchida-Kraepelin psychodiagnostic test.

The formal Japanese name is ‘内田クレペリン精神検査’. Because of its origins, it was initially used mainly in medical settings. Its applications later expanded to aptitude testing in recruitment and personality testing for student and career guidance, so the word ‘精神’ (mental) is generally omitted from the commonly used Japanese name.

Vietnamese

Vietnam was the next Southeast Asian country entered after Thailand.

As test data accumulated in Thailand and Vietnam, it became apparent that simply applying Japanese Judgment criteria unchanged did not allow the test’s ability to distinguish among individuals to be used to its fullest.
