Case 6: A transfer from administration to customer support at a mid-sized telecom IT company

She is a relatively older employee who has recently transferred from another department.

Concerned about her frequent mistakes at work, her new supervisor had her take the Uchida-Kraepelin Test to understand her personality and behavioral characteristics.

Her Judgment results indicate characteristics such as ‘a rigid mindset,’ ‘caution in new situations,’ and ‘a lack of flexibility.’

Her supervisor patiently guided her and helped her fully understand and accept what her new work involved.

After that, her mistakes decreased, and she has continued working steadily and conscientiously.

The Uchida-Kraepelin Test is a psychological test using a work-performance method. Examinees perform single-digit addition for a total of 30 minutes, changing rows every minute, with a 5-minute break between the two halves.

Connecting the final calculation position for each minute produces a graph characteristic of the individual examinee.

The upper graph shows the first 15 minutes; the lower graph shows the second 15 minutes.

The red line is the examinee’s own work curve. In this case, the blue line is the average work curve obtained by averaging test results of contemporary Japanese examinees with a similar amount of work.

Interpreting the red line provides insight into the examinee’s latent behavioral characteristics.
