Case 10: An outstanding bank employee regarded as a model member of staff

His sales performance is good, he consistently meets his sales targets, and he takes an active approach to his work.

He carries out his work proactively and responsibly, and his customers trust him.

His immediate supervisor is concerned that he tends to overwork because he accepts every task he is asked to do.

People with a typical work curve showing high ability and high Adaptability have strengths such as a balanced approach to work and attentiveness to others. However, this type also needs to be mindful of excessive adaptation.

The Uchida-Kraepelin Test is a psychological test using a work-performance method. Examinees perform single-digit addition for a total of 30 minutes, changing rows every minute, with a 5-minute break between the two halves.

Connecting the final calculation position for each minute produces a graph characteristic of the individual examinee.

The upper graph shows the first 15 minutes; the lower graph shows the second 15 minutes.

The red line is the examinee’s own work curve. In this case, the blue line is the average work curve obtained by averaging test results of contemporary Japanese examinees with a similar amount of work.

Interpreting the red line provides insight into the examinee’s latent behavioral characteristics.
